Russians love YOGA

It’s a common fact that exercising yoga is very useful for our body health support. The mystery might be hidden in the believe that yoga poses are in fact natural body positions. Our body feels very comfortable in each yoga position but the main condition under which this is possible is balancing our emotions. While exercising we need to relief, to get rid of tension and stress in our muscles.

On one level, yoga is a set of physical exercises that comfort the human body physically. It doesn’t just impact positively on our body, but is also helpful for our mental health. A healthy and clear state of mind is a necessary component and this mental advantage has made yoga extremely popular all over the world.

Dmitry Medvedev inspires thousands of Russians to begin learning the ancient Indian art called yoga.

He has been mastering yoga little by little during the last several years and makes success in it.

Dmitry explains that yoga is helpful for relaxing from the stress factors while working at global national projects. Dmitry realizes the huge responsibility set up at him. In order to stimulate the realization of important projects he has to practice sports more often and intensively than before.

Medvedev is known to have made great progress in improving his yoga skills after a year of studying.

He have mastered shirshasana which is considered to have a wonderful impact on the entire body. This pose is headstand and got the name of  ”king of asanas”.

There are plenty of various yoga schools in Russia and Ukraine such as Iyengar, Ashtanga or meditative Kundalini yoga, but it remains unclear what school Medvedev follows.

It’s a well-known fact that yoga was prohibited in the Soviet era because of it’s tight connection with Hindu religion. But nowadays yoga gains more and more popularity in Russia. Dozens of new yoga centers are being opened each month only in Moscow. One of the reasons of its success is the president’s advertisement. Russians fancy for yoga is likely to increase in the next years, according to the prognosis of the White House.

Along with the previous two presidents who engrafted the passion for tennis and judo, Dmitry Medvedev is taking risk of facing more yoga schools in Russia than in India. Russians pay much attention to the authority of the head of the state. If the president has some hobby, it soon becomes the hobby of the whole nation.

The publisher of Yoga Journal in Russia, Khatuna Kobiashvili, states that there are around 100,000 people who regularly study and practice yoga in Russia. The magazine itself sells 55,000 copies a month nationwide and this is a high indicator of peoples’ love to yoger in Russia.
