Dolce and Gabbana managed to make the presentation during the Men’s Fashion Week 2009 look utterly creative, exciting and fresh. The style in general is a bit ruggy and very manly in spite of the unusual settings and bright colours. Jeans are supposed to wear with leather and boots. And at the same time carefully cut and styled suits of velvet were welcome.
Spring 2010 is expected to be particularly interesting because of emphasizing of the color function in the men’s wardrobe. If you are hesitating what colour goes the most, it’s time for experiments this spring! Begin exploring the palette which have prepared the upcoming trends of this season.
Formal men’s fashion often brings to life the worst ideas related to formal-wear. Outfits tend to be solid, traditional and – on the whole – boring. A patterned pocket square lets you change all that. The shock of color makes for a pleasant surprise against the largely black and white crowd. At its simplest, though, it’s still a pocket square, an essential piece for any gentleman, so nobody can complain that you’re not following the dress code.
Colored boat shoes, like the patterned pocket squares, are essentially new updates to an age old classic. New colors like red and green are a welcome addition to this season’s selection of color, especially since every other man on the street is already wearing a pair in navy, white, brown or black. If it’s individuality you’re after, these shoes are the perfect way to express it. loud colors are the name of the fashion game for spring. There’s a kaleidoscope of shades and hues out there waiting for you to express your personal style with them.

Milan and Paris men’s Spring/Summer 2010 Fashion Week was filled with many highs and lows. Creativity and passion were present throughtout every collection. Men’s fashion week is making it’s way to the forefront after years of being secondary to the women’s shows.
From D&G’s ultra luxe, urban western style consisting of leather shirts, studded jeans, and denim jackets; to Thierry Mugler’s infusion of prep and the futuristic style the brand is mostly known for. One of the biggest trends to hit the runways: layered monochromatic colors in sandy shades beige and shades of grey, seen in shows such as Dior Homme, Kenzo, John Galliano, and Ann Demeulemeester.
There were quite a few misses. Alexander McQueen’s collection seemed to be all over the place; not having one cohesive story. Comme des Garcon seemed to have designed the exact same look 30 plus times which says nothing to head designer Junya Watanabe’s creativity and great eye for mens fashion.
Amoung the hits were Dolce & Gabbana, who oozes sex appeal, presented sexy swim wear, ripped slim jeans and deep cut silk tops. While Dsquared2, who always keeps their show youthful yet, went for a ”boy scout” look with cuffed canvas short shorts paired duck head boots, slim camping jackets, and parkas. Gucci is always riding the Rock & Roll express of high end fashion and for S/S 2010 Men’s RTW collection was on the right track with slim and edgy silhouettes and the use of iridescent fabrics. The Louis Vuitton, Bottega Veneta, and Ferragamo collections delivered looks for the world traveling, globe trotting, time zone jumping man of leisure. Rich colors and fabrics, clean silhouettes, and extremely chic and functional accessories and bags are sure to flood the airways next year.
