International Women’s Day is coming!

The idea of an International Women’s Day celebrated on March,8 first appeared during the period of expansion in the industrialized world. That period was famous for the active growth of population and the emerging of radical ideologies. On the 8th of March, 1857, women which worked on textile and clothing factories in NY, USA started striking against the inhumane working conditions and very low salaries.

This protest set a starting point for the movements of women’s emancipation and struggle for the women’s rights and freedoms. The protesters were hunted and dispersed by the police, but 1859 the women founded their labour union. And that happened in March again. Poor women were trying to acquire some basic rights in the working place.
